On August 30, Xiaomi officially released the Surge OS 1.0.24.7.28.DEV "Developer Edition" system, marking the final version of the Developer Edition. Currently, Xiaomi 14, Xiaomi 13, and Xiaomi 12 have received push notifications. Xiaomi stated that for users still using the Developer Edition system, an official version that preserves data will be pushed by the end of September 2024. The specific timing will be announced in each model's push notification.

It's worth noting that Xiaomi also announced the discontinuation of the "Advanced Material" feature for the Xiaomi 12 series, which was supposed to be available with the Surge OS system. Xiaomi explained that after multiple tests on the Xiaomi 12 series, this feature resulted in a 10% decrease in battery life, with fluency lagging behind by over 10%. This performance failed to meet the release standards for the Developer Edition.

Notably, Xiaomi has added a dual-track mode for the Beta Edition and official version. Users can freely choose whether to upgrade to the Beta Edition system, and even if they opt for the official version, data will not be cleared, minimizing the difficulty and risk of system upgrades.
