As the release date of the new Apple iPhone 16 series approaches, its stockpiling efforts have entered a crucial stage. Foxconn, a major Apple manufacturing partner, has recently launched a large-scale recruitment drive at its Zhengzhou Technology Park to meet the production demands for the new phones. According to the Daily Economic News, Foxconn has significantly increased its salary packages to attract more employees.

Increased Hourly Wages and Bonus Rewards

On August 8th, a recruitment agency at Foxconn's Zhengzhou Technology Park revealed that hourly wages for temporary workers have been raised to 26 yuan per hour. Bonus workers (who need to clock in for 90 days) can receive a 7500 yuan bonus. Compared to July 26th, hourly wages have increased by 2 yuan, and bonus rewards have increased by 200 yuan.

The substantial increase in wages reflects Foxconn's emphasis on iPhone 16 series production. As the release date approaches, Foxconn needs to rapidly expand its production lines to meet market demand. Raising salaries is a crucial means of attracting more employees.

Foxconn Chairman Focuses on Zhengzhou, Promises to Create "New Foxconn"

It's worth noting that Foxconn Chairman Liu Yangwei visited the Zhengzhou Technology Park in late July, marking his first extended stay in Zhengzhou in recent years. This signifies Foxconn's high regard for its partnership with Zhengzhou and its intention to further strengthen its presence in the region.

Indeed, Foxconn has a long-standing cooperative relationship with Zhengzhou, bringing mutual benefits. Since officially establishing its presence in Zhengzhou in 2010, Foxconn's Zhengzhou campus has provided ample employment opportunities for local residents and stimulated the development of related industries. By 2013, the Foxconn Zhengzhou campus employed over 300,000 people, with over 90% being Henan natives.

In recent years, the number of employees at Foxconn's Zhengzhou Technology Park has stabilized at around 200,000. From February to April this year, Liu Yangwei visited Henan three times and pledged to create a "New Foxconn" in Henan. On April 25th, Foxconn's new business headquarters was officially unveiled, announcing its commitment to deepening its roots in Henan and implementing the "3+3" strategy, aiming to transform the Zhengzhou base into a core base and important benchmark for Foxconn's global innovation and industrial layout.

Diversification and Entry into the New Energy Vehicle Sector

Foxconn's activities in Zhengzhou extend beyond iPhone production, encompassing diversification efforts and investments in the new energy vehicle industry. Hon Hai Technology Group's annual report reveals that the company, through the CDMS model, assists automotive manufacturers in achieving rapid market entry and cost efficiency. This year, Foxconn signed a memorandum of understanding with solid-state battery company BlueSolution to collaborate on the production of solid-state batteries for two-wheeled vehicles. Foxconn plans to supply components or services to 10% of electric vehicles globally between 2025 and 2027.

With the slowdown in smartphone market growth, automobiles, as the next most promising intelligent terminal device, have become a crucial avenue for diversification for companies like Foxconn. Foxconn's investment in the new energy vehicle industry in Zhengzhou not only creates new growth points but also strengthens its collaborative partnership with the local government.

Conclusion

Foxconn's wage increase for recruitment reflects the crucial stage of iPhone 16 series stockpiling. Foxconn's presence in Zhengzhou extends beyond iPhone production to encompass diversified ventures such as new energy vehicles. In the future, as Foxconn's investments in Zhengzhou continue to grow, the city will play a significant role in Foxconn's global layout.
