A survey of over 2,000 users reveals that price remains a dominant factor for potential iPhone 16 upgraders, while the upcoming AppleIntelligence system is also significantly influencing purchase decisions. As the iPhone 16 series is set to be unveiled in a few weeks, prospective buyers are weighing their options to find the best fit for their needs.

The survey results show that 61.9% of respondents are planning to upgrade to a new iPhone. Among the factors impacting upgrade decisions, 30.9% of respondents cited the iPhone 16's pricing as their top concern. Thermal management came in second, with 26.8% hoping for improved heat dissipation and a reduction in throttling. The AppleIntelligence system ranked third, with 21.6% of consumers wanting to see more unique AI functionalities. This was closely followed by a faster A-series chip (21.5%) and larger screen sizes.

The survey further highlighted that 19% of respondents want the "Action" button to be available on all iPhone 16 models, while 17.7% are looking forward to the rumored "Capture" button.

Another survey revealed a division in opinion regarding the screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max. 54.9% of respondents expressed their desire for a larger iPhone, while 33% found the increasing size of iPhones to be challenging.

In the screen size survey, only 12.1% of respondents hoped for a return to the mini iPhone era, indicating a desire for a new compact version. When broken down by gender, men were more likely than women to want a larger iPhone, with percentages of 62.1% and 47.8%, respectively. However, 41.5% of women found the increasing size of iPhones to be challenging, compared to only 24.4% of men.

Despite the imminent arrival of AppleIntelligence, consumers recognize that most features may not be fully available at launch, indicating their willingness to wait. When asked if they would be willing to wait an extra month for the AI features on the iPhone 16, 82.1% of respondents agreed to wait. Only 17.9% believed that AI functionalities should be launched alongside the iPhone 16 in September.

Overall, the price, thermal management, and AI features of the iPhone 16 are emerging as crucial factors influencing consumer upgrade decisions. Consumers are excited about the AppleIntelligence system and are willing to wait for its complete refinement. Screen size remains a point of debate, but most respondents expressed a preference for larger iPhones.
