Xiaomi's smart ecosystem has announced that its Xiaomi Smart Home Screen series (10/Pro8) now officially supports WeChat calls. Users can now make two-way voice and video calls to friends and family. This feature allows for customizable WeChat nicknames for contacts and one-touch dialing via Xiaoai voice assistant. Currently, the feature is only available on the Xiaomi Smart Home Screen 10 and Xiaomi Smart Home Screen Pro8. Users will need to update to the latest versions of WeChat and the Mi Home App, and perform an OTA upgrade to access this feature. The official statement indicates that the feature will be fully rolled out by September 30, 2024.
As previously reported by IT Home, a blogger revealed the upcoming feature in early August. Screenshots from the internal testing phase showed the service was free for the first year, with pricing for the official release still unknown.
This new functionality will further enhance the user experience of Xiaomi's Smart Home Screen series, providing more convenient communication options. Users can easily make calls with just a voice command to Xiaoai, eliminating the need for manual operation on their phones, making it faster and more convenient. Additionally, the customizable WeChat nicknames will allow users to more easily identify different friends and family members, improving user experience.
