On August 20th, PICO, a subsidiary of ByteDance, held a new product briefing and officially launched the PICO4 Ultra mixed reality headset. This device is equipped with dual 4K (43202160) ultra-vision displays, supporting a 90Hz refresh rate and a rendering resolution of 19201920, representing a 62% increase over PICO4. Powered by the second-generation Snapdragon XR2 platform, it boasts 12GB of RAM, with GPU performance improved by 2.5 times and AI performance enhanced by 8 times compared to PICO4, delivering a smoother experience.
PICO4 Ultra is priced at 4299 yuan (12GB+256GB) and was open for pre-order on August 20, 2024, with official sales commencing on September 2nd. Additionally, the PICO4 Ultra Enterprise version is priced at 7499 yuan and will be officially available on September 3rd.
The new device integrates three types of precision sensors, including four environment tracking cameras, dual 32-million-pixel color passthrough cameras, and an iToF depth-sensing camera. It supports 8 million pixel stereo high-definition color passthrough, a 72Hz refresh rate, low distortion passthrough, and real-time environment perception.
In terms of design, the PICO4 Ultra adopts a rear battery design, with a rear weight of 276 grams and a front body weight of 304 grams, achieving good front-to-back balance. The new controller features a minimalist design without a light ring.
Furthermore, PICO4 Ultra innovatively introduces a panoramic screen workspace, supporting up to 20 applications open simultaneously, with a maximum window size of 280 inches. It is compatible with the Android app ecosystem and enables human-computer interaction through controllers, gestures, and keyboard/mouse (to be rolled out in Q4 this year). The PICO4 Ultra supports phone mirroring functionality, allowing users to display and operate iPhone and Android phones on the headset, as well as desktop interconnectivity compatible with both Windows and Mac desktops, enabling multiple desktop displays simultaneously.
