Earlier this year, Google introduced a new feature called "charge cycle count" on the battery information page of the Pixel 8 series, but later withdrew it. While the feature reappeared on the Pixel 8a, it never returned to the flagship Pixel 8 series. Now, the latest Pixel 9 series finally brings back the charge cycle count feature!

The Pixel 9 series comes with a host of new features. In addition to various AI features, all four models support display output using USB-C cables. Google has also made adjustments to the device's software, with a significant change being the display of charge cycle count information.

You can find the battery charge cycle count by going to "Settings" > "About Phone" > "Battery Information". This page will display information such as the manufacturing date, first use date, and the new cycle count.

Right below the cycle count information, you will also see a note: "Due to quality checks prior to shipment, the cycle count may not be zero on first use." This means that when you unbox your brand new Pixel 9, the cycle count may show as 1 or 2. Don't panic; this doesn't mean the phone is used. The cycle count simply reflects the charging during device testing.

This is a rather convenient feature that we've already seen on Apple iPhone devices. With the battery charge cycle count information, users can easily judge whether the phone's battery has degraded and whether it needs to be replaced.

Google is expected to bring this cycle count information to more Pixel devices in the upcoming Android 15 update.
