Samsung's New W25 Foldable Phone to Feature Slim Design, Could Launch Alongside Galaxy Tab S10 Series

With the launch of multiple new foldable phones, "thinness" has become a major selling point for such devices. Samsung appears to be joining this trend as well. Reports suggest that the company is planning a slimmer foldable phone, tentatively named "W25" (Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim overseas), which would be a modified version of the Galaxy Z Fold6.

The Samsung W25 will be thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold6 and will not support the S Pen stylus. The body is expected to be made of titanium. Notably, Samsung used stainless steel for the back panel of the original Galaxy Fold and Galaxy Z Fold2. But, in the Galaxy Z Fold3 and subsequent models, the company transitioned to carbon fiber reinforced plastic to avoid interference from metal materials with stylus recognition.

To achieve extreme thinness, Samsung conducted 200,000 folding cycles, waterproof and dustproof tests on the W25. Considering overall durability, craftsmanship, and other factors, the final thickness was set between 11-11.5 mm, aiming to leave room for component applications in foldable phones next year.

Apart from the slimmer design, the Samsung W25 will feature an 8-inch inner screen and a 6.5-inch outer screen. The outer screen has a 19.5:9 aspect ratio, similar to the Galaxy S24 Ultra. In terms of other specifications, the Samsung W25 is expected to be similar to the Galaxy Z Fold6, without significant downgrades but also no major upgrades.

As a reference, the recently launched Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 has a folded thickness of 12.1 mm, an unfolded thickness of 5.6 mm, weighs 239 grams, and has a 6.3-inch outer screen + 7.6-inch inner screen. It starts at 13,999 yuan. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra has dimensions of 162.3x79.0x8.6 mm, weighs 232 grams, and boasts a 6.8-inch display. The price starts at 9,699 yuan. Based on this information, Samsung's Galaxy W25 could be thinner than the Z Fold6 and lighter than the S24 Ultra while maintaining its high price point of over 10,000 yuan. However, the actual configuration and price will be determined by official announcements.

Currently, Samsung has begun OneUI system testing for the W25 foldable phone. Data information shows that Samsung has conducted two system tests for the Galaxy W25, with internal version numbers W9025ZCU0AXG7/W9025CHC0AXG7/W9025ZCU0AXG7, indicating that Samsung is still developing the device. It's worth mentioning that Samsung OneUI 7 will bring improvements to the main camera and telephoto lens of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, aiming to enhance image clarity. It will also feature a new interface design, improved animation effects, enhanced cross-device task capabilities, a paginated notification panel, and expanded status bar elliptical icons.

Reports suggest that the Samsung W25 foldable phone could be launched alongside the Galaxy Tab S10 series of tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S10 series will include Plus and Ultra versions. Promotional images have already been leaked. Based on the images, both tablets feature a similar design and will be available in at least silver and graphite colors. They will have a dual rear camera setup with the flash placed below the lenses. The difference is that the Galaxy Tab S10 Plus does not have a notch, while the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra retains the notch. Previous leaks revealed that the Galaxy Tab S10 Ultra will be 0.05 mm thinner than the previous S9 Ultra. It will continue to feature a 14.6-inch screen, quad speakers, and a magnetic S Pen stylus.

In conclusion, the Samsung W25 foldable phone will focus on a slim design and is expected to be released in October. The Galaxy Tab S10 tablets are anticipated to launch simultaneously.
