Fast Technology reported on September 24th that Apple has stopped signing iOS 17.6.1 and iPadOS 17.6.1. This means that all devices except the latest generation M4 iPad Pro will be unable to downgrade to older system versions after upgrading to iOS 18/iPadOS 18.

This measure comes after several users reported encountering critical issues while upgrading their M4 iPad Pros to iPadOS 18, resulting in their devices becoming completely bricked. Apple responded quickly to user complaints by immediately halting the signing of iPadOS 18, making it impossible for the M4 iPad Pro to download and install the latest operating system.

iPadOS 18 aimed to introduce several new features, including bringing the official calculator to the iPad with three modes: basic calculator, scientific calculator, and math memo. Users can switch between modes using the calculator button in the bottom left corner and use the conversion button for unit conversions.

Furthermore, iPadOS 18 inherited the home screen customization features from iOS 18, allowing users to personalize the appearance of icons and widgets in light or dark mode. They can also enable icon recoloring to personalize the icon colors.
