MediaTek announced today that it will hold a launch event for its new generation of MediaTek Dimensity flagship chip on October 9th, where it will officially release the Dimensity 9400 mobile platform. As the most powerful smartphone chip in MediaTek's history, the Dimensity 9400 is the first chip in the Android camp to utilize TSMC's 3nm process technology.

Beyond its advanced process technology, the Dimensity 9400 has undergone comprehensive upgrades in its CPU, GPU, and other areas. The CPU, for the first time, features the Arm Cortex-X925 super core. To emphasize the massive leap in CPU upgrades, Arm has specially adjusted the naming convention for Cortex-X. Compared to the previous generation X4, the Cortex-X925 super core boasts a 36% performance improvement and a 41% enhancement in AI performance.

In terms of the GPU, the Dimensity 9400 is equipped with the brand new Mali-G925-ImmortalisMC12GPU. Arm declares this to be the highest performing and most efficient GPU to date. Compared to the previous generation G720, the ImmortalisG925GPU offers a 37% increase in graphics performance, a 52% boost in ray tracing performance for complex information processing, a 34% improvement in AI and machine learning workload performance, and a 30% reduction in power consumption.

In actual testing, the Dimensity 9400 achieved an impressive 134fps on the GFXBench Aztec 1440P off-screen Vulkan scenario, surpassing the A18Pro by 86% and the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by 41%, showcasing its remarkable performance capability.

As the launch device for the Dimensity 9400, the vivo X200 series will also make its appearance in October. This smartphone, featuring the latest flagship chip from MediaTek, is undoubtedly poised to become a highly anticipated product in the market.
