As competition in the smartphone market intensifies, manufacturers are pulling out all the stops to stand out. Huawei's HarmonyOS, with its unique appeal, has attracted an increasing number of users. Recently, news of the public beta of HarmonyOS NEXT has generated widespread attention.

According to leaks, HarmonyOS NEXT will introduce a surprising feature free cloud space. Users will no longer face capacity limitations for both basic data and user-defined data, significantly simplifying the smooth transition from the older HarmonyOS 4.2 to the new system. This innovative design not only reduces the burden of data backup and recovery during upgrades for users but also effectively safeguards data integrity and security. However, it's important to note that the free cloud space feature is currently only available in the test version. As the official version is released and user numbers increase, Huawei may consider charging for cloud space. After all, free cloud space consumes more computing resources.

For example, scanning a QR code on a phone will directly jump to the corresponding app, eliminating the previous cumbersome scan-and-login process and offering great convenience to users.

The first batch of devices supporting the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta includes the Huawei MateX5 series, Huawei Mate60 series, and Huawei MatePadPro 13.2-inch series, as well as the Huawei Nova12 series and Huawei Pura70 series. Additionally, Huawei phones equipped with the Kirin 990 processor will also be able to upgrade to HarmonyOS NEXT, which is good news. However, these models may take longer to upgrade than the first batch as the official team continues to optimize and refine the system.

According to official information, the official version of HarmonyOS NEXT will be released in the fourth quarter, expected to be first launched on the Huawei Mate70 series and pushed out in November. Other models may have to wait until next year to upgrade to the official version.

Although the release date may be delayed, this simply means the official team is continuously improving the ecosystem.
