Google Pixel 9a Leaked: New Pink and Purple Options, Design Reverts to Tradition
Technology outlet AndroidHeadline reported yesterday (October 1st) that the Google Pixel 9a will be available in four color options. In addition to the common white (Porcelain) and black (Obsidian), the phone will also feature a new pink (Peony) and purple (Iris). The source claims that the Pixel 9a will ditch the green (Aloe) and blue (Bay) colorways, with the pink (Peony) color scheme resembling the base Pixel 9. Iris, on the other hand, is a purple hue derived from the iris flower. Iris flowers hold a significant place in Japanese culture, particularly during the Edo period when they were widely cultivated.
IT Home, citing the same source, reported that the Pixel 9a will be slightly taller and wider, measuring 154x73 mm. This is approximately 2mm taller and 1mm wider than the Pixel 8a. The Pixel 9a will also be thinner, with a thickness of 8.5mm compared to the Pixel 8a's 8.9mm. Given the near-flush camera design this year, this could potentially mean a slight reduction in battery capacity.
Leaked design renders reveal that the Pixel 9a does not adopt the design elements of the Pixel 9 series. Instead, it features a flat camera design, which the publication suggests makes the phone resemble the LG G8 ThinQ or V60 ThinQ from a few years ago.
