Fast Technology reported on October 8th that Huawei officially announced the public beta of its pure-blood HarmonyOS. The first batch of compatible devices for this public beta are the Mate60/X5 series phones and the MatePadPro 13.2-inch series tablets, the same models that were previously selected for the beta recruitment. Users with eligible devices can apply for the upgrade through the "My Huawei" app under the "Upgrade Preview" section.

According to Huawei founder Richard Yu, HarmonyOS NEXT, also known as pure-blood HarmonyOS, is a fully self-developed system foundation that completely abandons the traditional AOSP code. It only supports HarmonyOS kernel and HarmonyOS applications, representing a major breakthrough for China's self-developed operating system. The new system also features a brand-new self-developed "Star Shield" security architecture, leveraging hardware-software synergy and the HarmonyOS kernel to build a new security system and order, further enhancing system security.

Feedback from users who have already upgraded and technology bloggers indicates that the most significant improvement in pure-blood HarmonyOS is a significant increase in system fluency. Even older devices experience enhanced performance. Additionally, mainstream applications have largely completed their HarmonyOS native app development, including Baidu, Bilibili, DingTalk, East Money, JD.com, Kingsoft Office, Kuaishou, Meituan, Alipay, Deepin Technology, Tencent, NetEase, and Weibo. As a result, users shouldn't experience any significant impact on their daily usage after upgrading.

The launch of this public beta of pure-blood HarmonyOS marks a significant advancement in Huawei's operating system development and showcases its powerful capabilities in independent R&D.
