Today, Google officially released the stable version update of Android 15 to Pixel devices. Some devices have already completed the upgrade, and a large-scale rollout is expected later this week. Older models eligible for the Android 15 upgrade include: Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, Pixel 6a, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, Pixel 7a, Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 8a, Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro XL, Pixel Fold, and Pixel Tablet. It's worth noting that the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro Fold are not included in this update for now, and Google will release updates for these devices later.
Android 15 introduces a range of new features, with the most notable being the "Anti-Theft Lock" feature. This feature utilizes AI technology to enable the device to sense theft or snatching and automatically lock itself when necessary, further enhancing device security. When the device senses potential theft, it will immediately activate the anti-theft lock mechanism, preventing users from accessing the device. Even if the thief tries to remove the SIM card or disable the "Find My Device" feature, it won't work.
Additionally, Android 15 strengthens the authentication requirements for key operations. For instance, when a user attempts to remove the SIM card or disable the "Find My Device" feature, the device will prompt the user for authentication. If the user fails multiple authentication attempts, the device will automatically lock, preventing unauthorized operations. This measure further enhances device security and privacy.
Even more exciting is that Android 15 integrates deeply with Google's Gemini large language model, bringing a brand new intelligent experience to Pixel devices. Based on AI technology, Pixel devices can intelligently detect scam calls. The Gemini model can monitor sensitive words in real-time during calls and promptly alert users when it detects potential fraudulent behavior, ensuring the safety of daily calls.
The launch of Android 15 marks a significant step forward for Google in the mobile operating system field. Besides improvements in security and intelligence, Android 15 also brings a host of other new features and optimizations, such as enhanced system performance, smoother user experience, a new user interface, and more. We believe that the arrival of Android 15 will bring Pixel users a safer, smarter, and more convenient mobile experience.
