Huawei Mate70 Series Leaked: Circular Camera Design, First Phone with Native HarmonyOS

Blogger "Factory Manager is Guan Tongxue" recently shared photos of the Huawei Mate70 and Mate70 Pro phone cases, revealing design details of the upcoming series. The phone cases show that the Mate70 series adopts a circular camera design. The standard version has a flash light above the camera, while the Pro version has it below. Notably, the camera layout of the Mate70 standard edition is similar to the Mate50, with the flash light placed above the camera lens, making it easily recognizable.

According to previous leaks, the Huawei Mate70 series is expected to have four models, including the Mate70 and Mate70 Pro, as well as the Mate70 Pro+ and Mate70 Extraordinary Master Edition. The front of the series features a triple-hole screen design with support for 3D facial recognition. The screen has an equal depth four micro-curve design and a resolution of 1.5K. The middle frame adopts a metal right-angle edge design and supports side fingerprint recognition.

The facial recognition on the Mate70 series uses a 3D ToF solution. This solution measures the time taken for infrared light pulses to travel from emission to return, creating a three-dimensional depth map of the user's face. Compared to traditional 2D facial recognition, the 3D ToF solution offers faster and more accurate response and achieves higher recognition rates under complex lighting conditions. It can be used for unlocking the phone, mobile payments, and other functions.

In terms of system, the Mate70 series will be the first to feature the native HarmonyOS operating system. Currently, over 15,000 HarmonyOS native applications and metaservices are available, and the iteration speed of native HarmonyOS apps is impressive, with new versions released almost every day. General office applications cover more than 38 million enterprises nationwide, and thousands of government and enterprise internal office applications are being rapidly deployed.

More importantly, native HarmonyOS has achieved a completely self-developed system foundation, significantly improving system smoothness, performance, and security. As a result, the system is also self-controlled. In July 2024, China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology certified that the Huawei HarmonyOS kernel has a 100% self-developed ratio and an A-class maturity level, meaning that it has become a fully "domestic" basic software and has earned the title of "pure blood HarmonyOS."
