According to the latest supply chain leaks, Apple will equip the entire iPhone 17 series with LTPO panels, supplied by Samsung and LG. This means the iPhone 17 series will finally feature standard high refresh rate displays across the board, with the standard models finally ditching 60Hz.
Apple first introduced LTPO technology in the iPhone 13 Pro series back in 2021, but it has been exclusive to the Pro models ever since. Despite the prevalence of high refresh rate displays even in budget Android phones, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus still stuck with 60Hz. This time, Apple is finally bringing high refresh rates to the standard models, a first in history.
The inclusion of a high refresh rate display in the iPhone 17 standard model could make it a formidable Android flagship killer. While the overall experience of the iPhone standard models has been strong in recent years, the low refresh rate has been a major point of criticism.
