Technology media outlet TheTechOutlook reported today that the Google Tensor G5 chip has appeared on the GeekBench benchmark database, with a single-core score of 1323 and a multi-core score of 4004 on version 6.3.0. The chip features one prime core, five performance cores, and two efficiency cores, clocked at 3.40GHz, 2.86GHz, and 2.44GHz respectively.
Previously, IT Home reported that the Tensor G5 chip integrates Imagination Technologies' PowerVR D-Series DXT-48-1536 GPU, which is confirmed in the benchmark database. This change breaks from Google's previous use of Arm Mali GPUs. The new GPU supports ray tracing and GPU virtualization, marking progress in Google's efforts in gaming and virtualization technologies.
Based on the benchmark scores, the Tensor G5 chip's performance appears underwhelming. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy scores over 10,000, while the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip scores 8980.
