Today, the "Chongqing City Transportation Card" WeChat official account announced that Apple Pay has officially launched in Chongqing for the Chongqing Card. Apple users can add the "Chongqing Card Transportation Union Edition" to their Apple Pay. There's no opening fee, and after activation, users can enjoy a 9% discount on subway and bus rides in Chongqing's central urban area, along with a 1-hour free transfer discount.
Once activated, users can pay without unlocking their phones, opening apps, or scanning QR codes. Simply use their iPhone or Apple Watch to complete the payment. Even if the iPhone's power is low and it automatically shuts down, the device's reserve power can still be used to ride the subway or take the bus with the transportation card, offering convenient and fast payment.
Currently, only China UnionPay debit cards are supported for recharging, credit card recharging is not yet available. To experience the Apple Pay Chongqing Card for taking buses and subways, users need to use iPhone 7 or later and Apple Watch Series 4 or later devices. Ensure the system version is iOS 15.0, watchOS 8.0 or later.
For users worried about losing their devices, there's no need to worry. If you accidentally lose your iPhone or Apple Watch, you can immediately use the Find My app to put the device in lost mode, locking the transportation card. Additionally, users can remotely remove the transportation card from the device via iCloud.com. When changing iPhones or Apple Watches, users can transfer their existing transportation card from the Wallet app for continued use.
