vivo X200 Promini: A New Benchmark for Small-Screen Flagships, A Six-Sided Warrior Evolved
The mobile phone market continues to evolve with constant upgrades and iterations. In recent years, small-screen phones, once considered unpromising, have unexpectedly seen a surge in popularity. This year, vivo's new small-screen flagship, the X200 Promini, is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated models. The X200 Promini not only continues the high-quality design of the X100 series but also redefines the standard for small-screen flagships with its 6.31-inch straight-screen body.
Appearance: Golden Ratio Dimensions, Straight Screen Brings a New Refined Experience
The X200 Promini adopts a 6.31-inch straight-screen design, inheriting the design style of the X100 series but with a simpler and cleaner body. The extremely narrow four-sided symmetrical bezels offer a powerful visual impact when the screen is on. The visible refinement makes for an impressive visual experience.
The X200 Promini uses a BOE 8TLTPO screen with a 2640x1260 resolution, supporting a customizable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz, effectively reducing power consumption. The peak brightness reaches 4500 nits, with a 1800 nits global peak brightness, ensuring clear screen viewing even under strong sunlight, completely eliminating the annoyance of sunlight screens. Additionally, the X200 Promini supports full-brightness 2160PWM high-frequency dimming, offering comprehensive eye protection.
The X200 Promini in our hands features a "Titanium Blue" color scheme, offering a fresh and vibrant visual appeal. The back uses an AG frosted glass material, providing a comfortable feel in hand. Besides "Titanium Blue," the X200 Promini is also available in "White," "Black," and "Pink," catering to the individual needs of different users.
- The camera DECO continues the "Sun and Moon Stars" design from the previous generation. The camera area clearly displays the ZEISS T coating logo, while the infrared hole is located in the lower middle area of the lens, and the flash is placed on the upper right. With a top design free of any openings, the X200 Promini places the phone speaker on the bottom and features a single-unit dual speaker setup.
The X200 Promini supports up to 90W FlashCharge fast charging, with a 90W fast charging adapter included in the package.
Performance and Gaming: World's First Dimensity 9400, Performance Soars, Power Efficiency Maxed Out
The X200 Promini is powered by the Dimensity 9400 mobile platform. This is the first processor in the Android world to adopt a 3nm process technology. The large core has been upgraded to the latest ARM Cortex-X925 super-large core, with a clock speed boosted to 3.63GHz. Compared to the previous generation X4, performance has increased by 36%, and AI performance has improved by 41%.
The Dimensity 9400 also features 3 Cortex-X4 super-large cores at 2.8GHz and 4 Cortex-A720 large cores at 2.1GHz, delivering exceptional performance. Additionally, the Dimensity 9400's L2 cache capacity has doubled from 1MB to 2MB, the L3 cache capacity has increased by 50%, and the power efficiency has been significantly improved.
For our theoretical performance and game performance testing of the X200 Promini, we disabled the phone's memory expansion feature and enabled performance mode (BOOST mode) for testing.
Theoretical Performance Tests
The Antutu benchmark results show that the X200 Promini achieved a total score of 2.71 million, representing an improvement of nearly 25% in overall performance compared to the previous generation Dimensity 9300. The GPU score breaks through the million mark, reaching 1.21 million, indicating that the Dimensity 9400 excels in graphics processing capabilities.
In Geekbench6 testing, the Dimensity 9400 achieved a single-core score of 2704 points and a multi-core score exceeding 8000, reaching 8683 points.
Game Tests
The enhanced performance of the GPU is even more apparent in gaming. We tested three games: "Genshin Impact," "Honkai: Star Rail," and "King of Glory," all at the highest graphics settings with priority set to frame rate, recording the frame rate, power consumption, power efficiency, and body temperature during gameplay.
- King of Glory: At "Extreme" graphics and "Very High" frame rate, the average frame rate reached 121.11, achieving smooth full-frame operation. Power consumption was 3.544W, with a power efficiency of 33.89FPS/W. The back temperature was only 35.8 degrees Celsius, demonstrating that the Dimensity 9400 handles King of Glory with ease.
- Genshin Impact: At the highest graphics settings, the average frame rate during Natlan exploration was 59.25, nearing full-frame operation. Average power consumption was 4.846W, with a power efficiency of 12.22FPS/W. The highest body temperature reached 41.6 degrees Celsius, making heat dissipation performance leading among similar products in small-screen phones.
- Honkai: Star Rail: At the highest graphics settings, with continuous monster attacks in the Simulated Universe, the average frame rate could be maintained at 58.2FPS, showcasing exceptional performance. Average power consumption was 3.450W, with a power efficiency of 16.86FPS/W. The highest temperature was only 37.6 degrees Celsius, significantly lower than expected, demonstrating the outstanding power efficiency of the Dimensity 9400.
Imaging: LYT818 Large-Sensor Main Camera, ZEISS Periscope Telephoto Lens Brings Excellent Photography Experience
The X200 Promini's main camera uses a LYT818 sensor jointly developed by BlueSky and Sony. This newest 22nm process technology significantly optimizes power efficiency. The 1/1.28-inch sensor with a single pixel size of 1.22m supports up to 50 million pixels output, equipped with a large aperture of f/1.57, matching the parameters of the IMX989. Thanks to power optimization, the LYT818 provides higher video recording quality and dynamic range.
The telephoto lens adopts a mainstream periscope design. While the size limitation of the body prevents using the same 200-megapixel telephoto lens as the X100 Ultra, the IMX882 still offers excellent overall performance. The 1/2-inch sensor supports up to 50 million pixels output and an f/2.57 large aperture. It features 3X optical zoom, maximum 100X ZEISS super-resolution digital zoom, and 20X telephoto macro, offering comprehensive functionality to easily handle various shooting needs.
The final ultrawide lens uses a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 sensor with a 1/2.76-inch sensor, an f/2.0 aperture, and a 15mm equivalent focal length. It supports AF autofocus, effectively capturing wide landscapes.
Let's appreciate the imaging performance of the X200 Promini together:
Main Camera
- It's clear from the sample images that the X200 Promini produces excellent image quality. Thanks to the new 1/1.28-inch LYT818 sensor, the capture of details and colors is sharper, resulting in photos that are cleaner, more transparent, and more appealing while maintaining realism. The ZEISS T coating technology also significantly reduces lens flare and scattering, significantly improving the output rate. The X200 Promini also adds various color style options: "Vivid," "Texture," and "Professional ZEISS Natural Colors," allowing you to capture the most suitable photos based on different shooting environments and personal preferences.
Telephoto
The telephoto performance didn't disappoint. It can capture scenery at various distances with numerous focal lengths. Even at 10X zoom, the photo colors remain clear and natural, perfectly preserving the details of buildings, with clear and transparent sky colors. At 3X optical zoom, the details of the enlarged photo remain clear, with almost no blur.
Night Scenes
The LYT818's 1.28/1 large-sensor COMS advantage is showcased effectively in the night. The X200 Promini delivers remarkably clear images at night. The sample images show that bright lights are handled exceptionally well, neither overexposed nor too dark, presenting natural light colors. When shooting in darker environments, the photo details are still preserved flawlessly, with no noticeable noise. The overall image quality consistently offers a clear and transparent feeling.
Ultrawide
In ultrawide mode, no distortion is observed
