Samsung Galaxy A26 Render Leaked: Overclocked Exynos 1280 Processor, Early 2024 Release
AndroidHeadlines recently revealed renders of the Samsung Galaxy A26. This mid-range phone is anticipated to launch early next year as the successor to the current Galaxy A25. The renders suggest a device with dimensions of 164x77.5x7.7mm, featuring a waterdrop display design with a relatively wide chin. The phone boasts a rectangular frame, side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and an overall aesthetic reminiscent of the Galaxy A36/56.
In terms of specifications, IT Home previously reported that the Galaxy A26 has appeared on Geekbench. Benchmark data suggests the phone will be powered by an "overclocked" version of the Samsung Exynos 1280 processor, coupled with 6GB of RAM. The Exynos 1280, released on March 17, 2022, is built on a 5nm process and features two Cortex-A78 CPU cores clocked at 2.4GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores running at 2GHz. Notably, Geekbench indicates that the Galaxy A26's performance cores are boosted to 2.6GHz, implying Samsung might have overclocked the chip.
Other speculated specs include storage options of 128GB and 256GB, with support for microSD card expansion.
For context, the current Samsung Galaxy A25 was unveiled on January 4th of this year. It sports a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display, a 13MP selfie camera, and a rear camera system comprising a 50MP main sensor (with OIS), 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro lens. The Galaxy A25 also utilizes the Exynos 1280 processor, paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage, a 5000mAh battery, Android 14 out of the box, and promises four major Android updates and five years of security patches.
Based on the currently available information, the Galaxy A26 appears to have undergone upgrades in both design and core hardware. The overclocked Exynos 1280 processor is expected to yield enhanced performance, while the expanded storage choices provide greater user flexibility. The phone is projected to be released early next year, and we anticipate learning more details about it closer to that time.
