HMD Sticks to "Tradition": HMDPulse2Pro Released with Unisoc T612 Processor
HMDGlobal has officially launched the HMDPulse2Pro, the successor to its first self-branded phone, the HMDPulse series. Despite the "Pro" designation, the phone continues HMD's "tradition" of using the Unisoc T612 processor. This processor, released on January 1, 2022, utilizes a 12nm process, featuring a [email protected] + [email protected] configuration and is positioned in the mid-to-low-end segment.
The HMDPulse2Pro boasts an HD+ punch-hole LCD panel and a straight-edged middle frame design. Renderings reveal a green color option with a textured finish.
Specifications:
- SoC: Unisoc T612
- Display: HD+ LCD Panel
- Rear Camera: 50MP + 2MP
- Front Camera: 50MP
- RAM: 6GB/8GB
- Storage: 128GB/256GB
- Battery: 5000mAh, supports 20W wired charging
Price-wise, the current HMDPulsePro phone is priced at 1099 yuan on JD International, and the HMDPulse2Pro is expected to be priced similarly.
The release of the HMDPulse2Pro further confirms HMD's conservative product strategy. While carrying the "Pro" title, the actual configuration is hardly different from its predecessor, lacking any significant upgrades. Value-conscious users might question the pricing of this phone.
It's worth noting that the release of the HMDPulse2Pro also reflects HMD's strategy in the low-end market. Although HMD previously launched high-end phones like the Nokia X series, it has shifted its focus to the mid-to-low-end segment in recent years, introducing multiple models with a price-performance focus. The launch of the HMDPulse2Pro could be a signal of HMD's continued efforts in the low-end market.
