In recent years, AI technology has become a key battleground for smartphone manufacturers, with a constant stream of AI-powered features emerging. However, what is the actual user experience like? Do these features represent genuine technological advancements, or are they merely marketing gimmicks? To answer this question, we selected four flagship models slated for release by late 2024 the Xiaomi 15 Pro, vivo X200 Pro, OPPO Find X8 Pro, and Honor Magic 7 Pro for a comprehensive AI feature comparison test. These four phones, all updated to their latest operating systems, represent the pinnacle of their respective manufacturers' capabilities in performance, imaging, and display technology. This comparison focuses primarily on the practical effectiveness of AI in everyday usage scenarios such as image processing, voice recognition, and smart assistant interaction, aiming to reveal which phone truly achieves an AI breakthrough and enhances user experience.

Basic AI Showdown: Comparison of AI Recognition and AI Removal Features

All four participating phones integrate new AI interaction methods in their latest operating systems. vivo X200 Pro's OriginOS 5 offers "Little V Assistant" and "Atomic Island," two AI interaction modes. Users can activate AI recognition by long-pressing the navigation bar or dragging the content to be recognized to the top. OPPO Find X8 Pro's ColorOS 15 allows users to activate "Xiaobu Assistant" by long-pressing the power button or navigation bar, providing a full-screen colorful animation and screen recognition function. Honor Magic 7 Pro's MagicOS 9.0 supports activating the YOYO intelligent body by long-pressing the navigation bar, making it the most convenient for interacting with most AI functions. The Xiaomi 15 Pro's "Super Xiaoai" assistant in Pengpai OS 2, however, requires application approval and lags behind in accessing large language model assistants.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro and Honor Magic 7 Pro performed best, with clean removal and good preservation of background details, avoiding image distortion. The Xiaomi 15 Pro benefited from improvements to its large model algorithm, significantly improving processing efficiency and results. The OPPO Find X8 Pro and vivo X200 Pro also performed well in AI removal, with fast processing speeds resulting in virtually no noticeable lag, but differed in algorithm optimization: OPPO prioritized overall smoothness, while vivo focused on processing local details.

In the AI upscaling test, we used an image of a mouse and keyboard. The Honor Magic 7 Pro's AI upscaling results were relatively accurate, but detail generation was still lacking. The Xiaomi 15 Pro's AI upscaling results were less satisfactory, with noticeable differences in the size and proportions of the keycaps compared to the original image. Unfortunately, the OPPO Find X8 Pro and vivo X200 Pro did not offer AI upscaling in this round of testing.

Overall, AI upscaling has enormous potential, but the technology is not yet fully mature. Differences in algorithm capabilities, detail restoration, and generation logic among brands determine the quality of the actual experience.

In this test, we used the built-in note-taking application, using the scenario of writing a promotional tagline for "Lei Technology attending CES 2025 in the US" to evaluate the AI writing capabilities of the four phones. The Xiaomi 15 Pro and vivo X200 Pro's AI writing functions are relatively mature, capable of quickly generating copy and supporting paragraph revisions, but the quality of the generated content needs improvement, with some sentence structures being basic and lacking depth and personalized expression. The OPPO Find X8 Pro's AI writing function uses a continuation logic, which is slightly cumbersome but produces excellent continuation results. The Honor Magic 7 Pro's note-taking application only supports basic functions such as summary generation and meeting minutes, but copy generation can be achieved through the smart assistant.

Overall, AI writing features offer some practical value in convenience and efficiency, but are still a distance from true "intelligent creation." Content quality, personalization, and contextual understanding are the major bottlenecks of current technology.
