网站描述：重庆大学是教育部直属的全国重点大学，由教育部和重庆市重点共建，是国家“211工程”和“985工程”重点建设的高校。学校地处国家西南工商业重镇、长江上游经济中心——重庆直辖市，校园坐落在人文荟萃的文化名区——沙坪坝区。重庆大学创办于1929年，早在20世纪40年代就成为拥有文、理、工、商、法、医等6个学院的国立综合性大学。李四光、马寅初、何鲁、冯简、柯召、吴宓、吴冠中等大批著名学者曾在学校执教。经过1952年全国院系调整，重庆大学成为国家教育部直属的、以工科为主的多科性大学，1960年被确定为全国重点大学。改革开放以来，学校大力发展人文、经管、艺术、教育等学科专业，促进了多学科协调发展。2000年5月，原重庆大学、重庆建筑大学、重庆建筑高等专科学校三校合并组建成新的重庆大学，使得一直以机电、能源、材料、信息、生物、经管等学科优势而著称的重庆大学，在建筑、土木、环保等学科方面也处于全国较高水平，奠定了高水平大学建设的坚实基础。
