网站描述：河套大学座落在巴彦淖尔市富饶的河套平原腹地，是1985年由自治区人民政府批准并经国家教育部备案而创办的一所综合型大学，原国家副主席乌兰夫为学校题写了校名。1993年起被教育部连续公布为具有学历教育招生资格的普通高校。2000和2004年，学校经过两次整合，先后将原巴盟教育学院、巴盟师范学校、巴盟电大、巴盟财校、巴盟卫校、巴盟农牧学校、临河水校并入河套大学。重新整合后的河套大学积极探索学校战略发展思路，逐步确立了“以培养高素质技能型人才为主要目标，融高等教育、职业教育、继续教育、远程教育、社区教育为一体的综合型大学”的办学定位。近年来，学校紧紧围绕办学定位和发展思路，进一步优化学校教育资源，深化教育教学改革，提升办学品味，为地区的经济和社会发展提供更好的人才和智力支持。
