网站描述：内蒙古大学位于内蒙古自治区首府呼和浩特市，创建于1957年，是新中国成立后在少数民族地区创立最早的一所综合性大学，现有4个校区，占地面积171万平方米。1978年被确立为国家重点大学，1997年被列为国家“211工程”重点建设的100所大学之一，2004年成为内蒙古自治区人民政府和国家教育部共建学校。首任校长由当时的国务院副总理、自治区主席乌兰夫兼任，中国科学院学部委员、著名生物学家、北京大学教授李继侗于建校初期来校执教并担任副校长。前任校长是中国工程院副院长、院士旭日干。现任校长是内蒙古自治区人民政府副主席连辑。
