网站描述：纳长白之秀，汲雾凇之美的北国江城吉林市，坐落着一所国家高职示范建设院校----吉林工业职业技术学院。学院1950年创建于长春，时名为“吉林省工业专科学校”；1953年迁至当时的省会吉林市，为适应国家重点建设项目、全国第一个大型化学工业基地——吉林化学工业公司对化工人才的迫切需要，易名为“吉林省吉林化学工业学校”；1959年吉林化工区陆续投产及扩建，急需培养大量高层次专业人才，学校遂升格为“吉林化学工业专科学校”，后来经历“吉林省石油化工学校”、“吉林化工学校”等办学阶段；1999年经吉林省政府批准独立举办高等职业教育，2002年1月正式升格为吉林工业职业技术学院，隶属于吉林省教育厅。学院于2007年获得教育部高职高专院校人才培养工作水平评估“优秀”等级，2008年7月被教育部、财政部批准为第三批国家示范性高等职业院校立项建设单位，堪称“高职211工程”学校。
