On May 27th, IT Home reported that according to RoadtoVR, Canon recently launched the VR social platform KokomobyCanon, which supports MetaQuest2 head mounted display devices and is currently available on Google Play in the US.
RoadtoVR points out that compared to MagicLeap, it directly projects the entire digital light field into the retina to generate cinematic reality; Kokomo focuses more on using its social attributes, presenting the user's virtual image through the rational use of their phone camera.
RoadtoVR further explains that users only need VR devices and phones to enjoy the immersive video calling experience provided by KokomoApp. KokomoApp can capture a user's full body 3D image, making the interaction between both parties more realistic, and provides a Mirror mode to share real-time data such as files and photos on the caller's phone.
IT Home learned from Canon's public information that Canon's current virtual reality devices mainly focus on enterprise applications. Previously, Canon showcased its latest MrealMRX13D head mounted display at CES 2023, priced at 3.5 million yen (IT Home note: currently approximately 176000 RMB).
