Admittedly, these are two key parameters that determine the image quality of a projector, but in fact, in addition to these two points, there are many functional points that are easily overlooked by users but are actually very important.

For example, why do some projectors start to blur when they are in use, even though the image is clear at the beginning?

For example, why are many projectors still using 4GB of memory, even though memory is already priced at a cabbage price?

For example, why do most 10000 yuan projectors not even have a USB 3.0 interface?

Today, we will reveal the answers to these questions through this review of the Dangbei F6 projector.

From the name, Dangbei F6 is an upgraded version of F5, but the magnitude of this upgrade can be described as a complete transformation.

1. All glass lens

Like a camera, a good lens is expensive. Ordinary projectors usually use glass+resin lenses. After 20 minutes of use, they often lose focus due to thermal expansion, and the images, especially the words, become blurred.

When the F6 is equipped with 10 full optical ultra-high definition transparent optical glass lenses, each lens has undergone eight cold processing processes, which not only has better heat resistance, but also has high transmittance, high precision and other characteristics.

The addition of full optical lenses completely eliminates the phenomenon of virtual focus caused by the lens's cold, hot, and aging in the Dangbei F6.

2. Haisi V811 chip

Most projectors and LCD TVs priced at 10000 yuan use MT9669 or equivalent processors, which support up to 4GB of memory and only support USB 2.0.

This is why projectors priced below 10000 yuan are equipped with 4GB of memory without the USB3.0 interface.

The first launch of the Dangbei F6 adopts the HiSilicon V811 chip, which supports Wi Fi 6, 240Hz high brush, HDMI 2.1, USB3.0, and 6GB of memory. Compared to the processors used in other 10000 yuan and projectors, the HiSilicon V811 chip can be said to be a cutting-edge chip.

4. 0.47 inch DMD chip and 4K resolution

The Dangbei F6 adopts a 0.47-inch DMD chip with 207 built-in micro mirrors, achieving physical 4K resolution through shaking.

Although there are currently 0.65-inch DMD chips available, the drawbacks of large-sized DMD chips are also evident. Usually, they require longer projection distances and require significant costs to make short focal lenses. Only models priced in the tens of thousands of yuan are used.

5. 1800CVIA lumen brightness and full color 4LED

When the BeiF6 adopts the latest generation P1MR light pack from Longus, the brightness can reach up to 1850CVIA lumens, equivalent to 2800ANSI lumens.

This is currently the highest brightness among 4K projectors priced at 7000 yuan.

As for the full color 4LED technology, compared to traditional RGB three color lasers, there is no longer a need for color wheels, so it can project a purer and higher color gamut image.

In addition, Dangbei F6 also supports XSuper super-resolution, which can effectively improve the clarity and contrast of videos. We will also test this separately.

In terms of the system, the Dangbei F6 is equipped with a new 4.0 desktop based on Android 12 with a single OS, which is ad free and supports flexible widgets. It can customize the desktop UI and has high playability.

The Dangbei F6 has a very exquisite appearance design and an integrated metal body. After more than 10 processes such as CNC precision carving, 3D polishing, anodizing, coating, spray hardening, non-conductive electroplating, silk screen printing, ultrasonic cleaning, etc., it has created a light& A matte shell.

Compared to most metal wire drawing projectors, this appearance is more high-end and aesthetically pleasing.

2. Switch light comparison

When the lights are off, the image quality of the Dangbei F6 is comparable to that of a high-end LCD TV.

After turning on the lights, the color, brightness, and contrast of the image are slightly weaker, but the overall details can still be clearly displayed.

1. Screen virtual focus test

I believe many people will have the feeling that some projectors have clear image quality at the beginning, but after several decades of continuous projection, the image becomes increasingly blurry, especially the text display.

When the F6 is equipped with 10 full optical ultra-high definition glass lenses, each lens will undergo eight cold processing processes, and will not appear thermal expansion, nor is it easy to age.

Regarding this, we set the image to a 4K resolution and continuously project TXT documents for three hours to see if there will be virtual focus on the F6.

The following is the actual footage we took.

Firstly, it can be seen that even in an environment where the lights are turned on, the brightness of the image in the Beibei F6 is very high, and the contrast between light and dark reaches a level that can be read normally, without the need to turn off the lights at all.

This is a close-up of the screen, with clear and sharp text display without any signs of virtual focus. It should be noted that this screen has been continuously displayed for three hours.

From the test results, it can also be seen that there will be no false focus when BeiF6 is used for a long time.

2. XSuper Super Resolution Experience

When NVIDIARTX4070 was released, RTXVSR video super-resolution technology was introduced to enhance image quality and video resolution through AI.

In fact, this technology has more practical significance for large screen televisions and projectors!

The image quality of 720P is actually acceptable on a 27 inch monitor, but when the display size is increased to 100 inches, 720P or even 1080P videos will have a noticeable jagged feeling, let alone some low-resolution classic anime.

Now Dangbei has launched XSuper super-resolution technology, which can identify low resolution film sources and use AI algorithms to repair and reshape frames by frames, improving image clarity, contrast, and color saturation, achieving pixel level optimization.

The original image is on the left, and after enabling XSuper super-resolution technology on the right, the contrast and color saturation of the image have been improved to the naked eye.

In addition, after zooming in, you can see full screen aliasing on the left, while on the right, it is much better, and the aliasing is basically not visible.

Throughout the entire testing process, the most impressive feature for me was the powerful text display ability of the Dangbei F6.

This is because the resolution of the projector in the conference room of the author's department can easily cause false focus when projecting TXT text, resulting in unclear reading of the text. In addition, the projector has a brightness of only 1000ANSI lumens, and when turned on, the contrast of the text display is extremely poor, making it easy to get dizzy when viewed for a long time.

We displayed 30000 words on a full screen at a 4K resolution for three hours. When the full glass lens of the camera did not show any blurry fonts like quality lenses, the displayed text was clear and sharp from beginning to end.

With the support of 1800CVIA lumen brightness, when the BeiF6 is turned on in the office, the projected image is even brighter and clearer than when many projectors turn off the lights.

When the lights are turned off, the projection quality of the Beibei F6 is comparable to the 100 inch LCD TV priced at 20000 yuan. When the lights are turned on, although the brightness and color show all attenuation, the overall details of the image can still be clearly displayed.

Of course, for fans like me, XSuper super-resolution technology is also a very practical feature.

For classic anime with lower resolution, the use of XSuper super-resolution technology has significantly reduced image aliasing, improved clarity, contrast, and color saturation to the naked eye.

However, compared to NVIDIA's RTXVSR video super-resolution technology, there still seems to be some gap, which is something that can be further improved when using the BeF6.

In fact, there are many highlights and gameplay options for the Dangbei Projection F6, such as 3DTOF insensitive autofocus and automatic trapezoidal correction, 6-second fast startup, no ads on startup, 16 millisecond game delay, 240Hz refresh rate, searching for remote control, global MEMC motion compensation, 240Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, dual 8W full frequency speakers+DTS sound effects, and so on.
