In recent years, Google has used self-developed Tensor series processors on Pixel series phones, but the actual performance of both the first and second generation chips has been unsatisfactory, failing to achieve the desired flagship performance. Recently, relevant revelations about Google's third-generation self-developed processor TensorG3 have also been leaked.
It is reported that TensorG3 will adopt a very unique 9-core design. Although mainstream flagship processors have differences in core selection, they are generally designed with eight cores. It is reported that TensorG3 consists of one 3.0GHz Cortex-X3 core, four 2.45GHz Cortex-A715 cores, and four 2.15GHz Cortex-A510 cores. The GPU part is a 10 core Mali-G710GPUImmortalis and supports ray tracing technology. In terms of paper parameters, it will be better than TensorG2, but it still cannot match the performance of Qualcomm or MediaTek's flagship chips. In addition, TensorG3 will support AV1 video encoding for the first time, which is significantly beneficial for video creation users.
The TensorG3, Google's third-generation self-developed processor, is expected to be first installed on Google Pixel 8 series phones.
