The following is the content of Lei Jun's social media post:
We just announced that Xiaomi will launch a new operating system, XiaomiHyperOS. For Xiaomi, this is an epoch-making milestone and a key leap towards the "full ecosystem of people, cars, and homes".
At this moment, my heart was filled with excitement and surging emotions.
Thirteen years ago, on August 16, 2010, Xiaomi's first product, MIUI, was officially born. In 13 years, from a few engineers to a software team of four to five thousand people; From the initial "100 dream sponsors" to a cumulative user base of 1.175 billion worldwide; From the first version with only 4 commonly used functions to the underlying deep framework of cross end interconnection and interworking; Making friends with users and providing the most user-friendly system experience has always been MIUI's unchanging pursuit. Now, it's the time to cross over. Xiaomi already has not only smartphones, but also a huge smart ecosystem spanning over 200 categories, and the "full ecosystem of people, cars, and homes" is about to complete a closed-loop. In the era of the Internet of Things, the complexity and vast number of operating system branches involved in various devices, as well as the ecological connectivity barriers caused by different systems and protocols, may exceed the imagination of many people.
Xiaomi's surging OS has emerged, and we have been preparing for it for a long time. In 2014, since the IoT business began to take shape, we began exploratory development and validation. In 2017, the research and development of a new system officially began, with a unified integrated system framework supporting all ecological devices and applications, which is our pursuit.
Today, we have taken a solid and crucial step: the official birth of Xiaomi Pengpai OS, which is "people-centered, creating a comprehensive ecological operating system for people, cars, and homes". It is based on the deep evolution of Android and the integration of self-developed Vela system, completely rewriting the underlying architecture, and laying a public foundation for the interconnection of everything for future billions of devices and billions of connections. This is a super large engineering system, so our engineers named it XiaomiHyperOS in English. The first device equipped with Xiaomi's surging OS is the Xiaomi 14, which will bring about a "leapfrog upgrade". What are your expectations and suggestions for "Xiaomi Pengpai OS"? Welcome to leave a message.
Starting today, we will gradually say goodbye to MIUI!
Thank you all for supporting MIUI. MIUI will always be in our memory.
