As the fall launch event draws near, production of Apple's next-generation flagship iPhone 16 series has entered its final stage. Foxconn's Zhengzhou factory is gearing up for the anticipated production peak, with massive recruitment efforts underway to meet the demand.
Apple is reportedly confident about the iPhone 16 series' market performance and expects shipments to surpass the iPhone 15 series by at least 10%, exceeding 90 million units and potentially reaching 95 million. This target translates to a significant increase in component supply, prompting component suppliers to ramp up production early to ensure smooth assembly.
Production of iPhone 16 series displays began in June and saw substantial capacity growth in July, setting the stage for a September launch. Samsung is expected to supply approximately 80 million OLED panels to Apple by the end of the year, while LG is projected to provide around 43 million panels, resulting in a total production of roughly 120 million panels. This number leaves a margin for the anticipated 90 million units of shipments.
Beyond displays, the iPhone 16 series promises several upgrades. It is rumored that the series will feature ultra-thin bezels, reducing the width from the previous 2.2mm to at least 1.5mm, a 31% decrease, resulting in a visually striking improvement.
The screen sizes of the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max will also increase. The Pro model will upgrade from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches, while the Pro Max model will jump from 6.7 inches to 6.9 inches. However, the standard iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will maintain their display sizes.
