Today, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun released a video taking viewers on a virtual tour of Xiaomi's labs, demonstrating some of the key smartphone testing processes. Lei Jun revealed that Xiaomi has established 478 labs, including 350 dedicated to smartphone testing, primarily located at the Xiaomi Science and Technology Park. The Xiaomi Changping factory also houses approximately 30 labs.
In the video, Lei Jun first showcased the drop test lab, highlighting tests like roller, directional, and steel ball drop tests. Lei Jun even conducted a drop test on the Xiaomi MIX Fold 4, demonstrating its durability with a perfectly intact screen.
Next, Lei Jun led viewers through the waterproof test lab, the environment simulation lab, and the surface durability lab. The surface durability lab focuses on hinge testing and compression tests, where the Xiaomi MIX Flip's 500,000 bend test without deformation was conducted.
It's worth noting that Xiaomi's Changping smartphone factory officially opened in July. With an investment of 2.4 billion yuan and covering an area of 81,000 square meters, it boasts an annual capacity of 10 million flagship smartphones. Lei Jun emphasized the factory's high level of automation, with the majority of equipment being self-developed, making it one of the most advanced smartphone factories in China.
This virtual tour provides a glimpse into Xiaomi's rigorous approach to smartphone research and development, as well as its impressive capabilities. From stringent testing processes to advanced production equipment, Xiaomi consistently strives for excellence in crafting high-quality products for its users. Lei Jun also highlighted Xiaomi's unwavering focus on quality, stating that the labs are crucial for ensuring product quality and serve as the foundation for Xiaomi's ongoing innovation.
Lei Jun shared some interesting stories about the labs, such as how Xiaomi designed "cruel" tests to push their phones to their limits, including placing them in a spinning cylinder to simulate various drops and impacts encountered in everyday use.
Beyond showcasing Xiaomi's robust R&D capabilities and production strength, the virtual tour underscores the company's commitment to user experience. Xiaomi consistently aims to create products that users adore, and the rigorous lab testing is a testament to ensuring product quality and reliability.
Lei Jun concluded the video by reiterating Xiaomi's commitment to user-centricity, continuous product quality improvement, and delivering exceptional user experiences. This underscores Xiaomi's future plans to invest heavily in research and development, bolster product competitiveness, and continue to surprise users with innovative offerings.
