China Telecom Satellite Phone Terminal Performance Evaluation: Huawei Honor Excels, Xiaomi and OPPO Lag Behind
On August 22nd, China Telecom officially released the "Performance Evaluation of Public Intelligent Direct-Connect Satellite Phone Terminals," with the tested models including Huawei Pura70Pro+, Honor Magic6Pro, Xiaomi 14Ultra, and OPPO FindX7Ultra. These four phones represent the current flagship products supporting satellite communication capabilities, providing valuable reference information for consumers. Evaluation results show that Huawei Pura70Pro+ and Honor Magic6Pro received five-star ratings, while Xiaomi 14Ultra and OPPO FindX7Ultra received four-star ratings, indicating the former two models significantly outperformed the latter two.
This evaluation was conducted by China Telecom from multiple perspectives, including TianTong network performance, TianTong call quality, call and message latency, positioning performance, and power consumption and battery life, comprehensively assessing the actual user experience of each model.
Regarding TianTong network performance, Huawei Pura70Pro+, Honor Magic6Pro, and Xiaomi 14Ultra all received five-star ratings, while only OPPO FindX7Ultra received a four-star rating. This means that the first three models performed better in terms of satellite signal connection stability and coverage.
In terms of call quality, Honor Magic6Pro took the lead with clearer call quality, followed closely by Xiaomi 14Ultra and Huawei Pura70Pro+, while OPPO FindX7Ultra lagged behind. This evaluation result indicates that Honor Magic6Pro excels in satellite call transmission quality, while the other three models also provide a basic reliable calling experience.
Regarding call and message latency, Huawei Pura70Pro+ performed the best, Honor Magic6Pro and OPPO FindX7Ultra were on par, and Xiaomi 14Ultra performed worst. This indicates that Huawei Pura70Pro+ better controls satellite signal latency, providing more timely call and message services.
In terms of positioning performance, Huawei Pura70Pro+ received the highest rating based on its accurate positioning accuracy, while the other three models were on par. This indicates that Huawei Pura70Pro+ can provide more accurate positioning information for satellite positioning, crucial in scenarios such as outdoor exploration and emergency rescue.
Regarding power consumption and battery life, OPPO FindX7Ultra performed the worst, while the other three models were on par. This means that OPPO FindX7Ultra consumes more power when activating the satellite communication function, affecting the phone's battery life.
Overall, China Telecom's satellite phone terminal performance evaluation is comprehensive, providing consumers with objective assessment results. Although each model has its strengths and weaknesses, overall, Huawei Pura70Pro+ and Honor Magic6Pro, with their outstanding performance and stability, received high ratings, becoming the frontrunners in the satellite phone industry.
It's worth noting that these evaluation results are based on laboratory data, and actual usage may vary. When purchasing phones supporting satellite communication capabilities, consumers are advised to consider their needs and actual usage environment.
