Technology media outlet MySmartPrice has published a blog post reporting that the Motorola Edge 50 Neo and ThinkPhone 25 have appeared on the GeekBench benchmark database, revealing key information about these upcoming devices.
Firstly, the Motorola Edge 50 Neo scored 1055 points in the single-core test and 3060 points in the multi-core test on GeekBench 6.3.0. This benchmark result further confirms that the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chip. Previous reports have suggested that the Edge 50 Neo will be available in four colors - Grisaille (Black), Nautical Blue, Poinciana (Red), and Latte (Light Brown) - and will run Android 14. It is also expected to feature a 6.4-inch POLED 120Hz display with a resolution of 1220x2670 pixels.
Interestingly, the Motorola ThinkPhone 25 scored 1039 points in the single-core test and 2833 points in the multi-core test on GeekBench 6.3.0. However, the most intriguing aspect is that both the Motorola Edge 50 Neo and ThinkPhone 25 share the codename "Vienna." MySmartPrice speculates that Motorola might rename the Edge 50 Neo as ThinkPhone 25 to achieve brand uniformity and streamline its marketing efforts.
This speculation is not unfounded. In recent years, Motorola has adopted an aggressive strategy in the smartphone market, aiming to attract a wider user base through a fresh brand image and product positioning. The ThinkPhone series, specifically designed for business professionals, has garnered some market recognition. Renaming the Edge 50 Neo as ThinkPhone 25 could help Motorola further expand the ThinkPhone series' influence, while simultaneously introducing the Edge 50 Neo to a larger market.
However, it's important to note that at this stage, all information remains speculation, and there has been no official confirmation from Motorola. Whether or not Motorola will indeed rename the Edge 50 Neo as ThinkPhone 25 remains to be seen. Regardless, the appearance of these two phones on GeekBench undeniably adds a layer of mystery to Motorola's future product plans, further fueling anticipation for its upcoming releases.
