Snapdragon 8 Gen4 New Phones May Ditch Dedicated Display Chips, Qualcomm GPU Interpolation Technology Upgraded
Blogger @DigitalChatStation recently revealed that some models of the Snapdragon 8 Gen4 new phones, releasing at the end of the year, will not be equipped with independent display chips. He stated that Qualcomm's GPU interpolation technology can now replace external frame insertion, achieving widespread adoption of native super frame rates. Furthermore, the GPU performance in this generation has significantly improved, with benchmark data showing at least a 35% increase.
The blogger further added in the comments that the high frequency of the CPU/GPU on the new phones can only be reached under full load benchmark conditions, and they also support concurrent super resolution and super frame rate features at the GPU level.
According to previous reports from IT Home, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen4 chip's GPU clock frequency is as high as 1250MHz, a 25% increase compared to the leading version of the Snapdragon 8 Gen3. The first Snapdragon 8 Gen4 QRD engineering machine benchmarks have also been released. This model utilizes Qualcomm's self-developed Nuvia CPU architecture, integrates the Adreno 830 GPU, and employs TSMC's 3nm process technology. Benchmark results show a single-core score of 2884 and a multi-core score of 8840.
This indicates that Qualcomm has achieved a significant breakthrough in GPU technology, capable of achieving more efficient frame rate enhancement through interpolation technology, ultimately offering users a smoother visual experience. Additionally, the combination of high-frequency CPU and GPU, coupled with the inclusion of concurrent super resolution and super frame rate features, will further enhance the overall performance of mobile phones, providing users with a powerful gaming experience.
While it remains unclear which Snapdragon 8 Gen4 new phones will forgo dedicated display chips, the upgrade to Qualcomm's GPU interpolation technology will undoubtedly have a profound impact on the entire mobile device market. It's foreseeable that more mobile phone manufacturers will choose to adopt Qualcomm's GPU interpolation technology as the mainstream solution, providing users with a superior visual experience.
