The official Huawei Developer Forum website announced that the public beta recruitment for HarmonyOS NEXT has officially begun, supporting devices like the Mate60 series, Pura70 series, MateX5, and Pocket2. The registration period is from August 26th to September 13th at 15:00, with the review period from August 30th to September 24th.

To participate in the public beta, users need to register on the Huawei Developer Forum website and complete a quiz, achieving a score of 80 or above to apply. Each real-name account has 3 application opportunities. It is reported that the scope of this public beta is larger than before, offering everyone the chance to experience HarmonyOS NEXT, unlike the previous testing limited to pioneer users.

The official website reminds users that HarmonyOS NEXT is still in its early testing phase and adopts a brand new system architecture. After upgrading, some apps may be incompatible, and some data may not be inherited or saved. Therefore, users must back up their device data before updating through methods like backup on a secondary device, PC backup, or cloud backup.

HarmonyOS NEXT, known as "pure-blood HarmonyOS," is a fully self-developed system base by Huawei. It abandons the traditional AOSP code and solely supports HarmonyOS kernel and HarmonyOS applications. This makes HarmonyOS NEXT a truly independent and controllable operating system originating from China.
