On September 10th, Apple officially announced the date for its 2024 Fall event, marking the official start of a new round of phone battles. As Apple's most significant product launch event of the year, this grand feast will not only bring the highly anticipated iPhone 16 series, but also surprise appearances from the Apple Watch Series 10 and new AirPods.

The iPhone 16 series is undoubtedly the star of this event. Early leaks indicate that this year's iPhone 16 series will continue the lineup of its predecessors, offering four models: iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

In terms of design, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will retain the dual-camera setup on the back, but the arrangement of the camera module and flash will be adjusted. The two rear cameras will be vertically aligned, eliminating the rectangular camera module and adopting a "pill"-shaped design. Regarding color options, the new models will feature deeper shades of blue and green, and a new camera button will be added on the lower right side of the body. This added button will be used for taking photos, recognizing variations in user pressure and adjusting focus, zoom, or taking photos based on different levels of pressure.

The two Pro series devices, aiming for higher positioning, will continue with the existing design scheme, incorporating a new brown (golden) color to replace blue and featuring a rectangular rear camera module. The module will house a triple-camera setup arranged in a symmetrical triangular pattern, with the flash component also placed within it. Similarly, a camera button will be included on the lower right side of the body. Regarding dimensions, the Pro series models will have slightly larger screens: the iPhone 16 Pro will increase to 6.3 inches, while the iPhone 16 Pro Max will reach 6.9 inches. The standard versions will remain at 6.1 inches and 6.7 inches.

In terms of performance, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus are expected to be powered by the A18 chip, while the Pro series models might utilize a chip called "A18 Pro," featuring more cores and promising enhanced AI/machine learning performance. All models of the iPhone 16 will be equipped with 8GB of RAM to meet the demands of running AppleIntelligence features.

Regarding imaging, the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will adopt a combination of a wide-angle main camera and an ultra-wide camera. The main camera specs will remain at 48MP, featuring an f/1.6 aperture and 2x telephoto capability. The ultra-wide camera sees a change, with the aperture shifting from the previous f/2.4 to a larger f/2.2.

The Pro series models will utilize a combination of a wide-angle main camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a telephoto lens. The main camera specs remain at 48MP, f/1.78 aperture, and can also capture 12MP telephoto photos with 2x optical quality. Adjustments have been made to the telephoto lens; unlike previous models, both models now feature a 5x telephoto camera, also with 12MP and an f/2.8 aperture. The ultra-wide camera has been upgraded to 48MP by Apple, and it possesses the same pixel binning functionality as the main camera.

Beyond the iPhone 16 series, the Apple Watch Series 10 is also a key focus of this event. Reports suggest that the Apple Watch Series 10 will feature a larger screen, a slimmer design, and a faster processor. There are rumors that the larger version of the new series will be comparable in size to the Apple Watch Ultra series, and there are also indications that a new, lighter material will be used for the watch case.

Regarding the AirPods 4 earbuds, the event will introduce the AirPods 4, which will reportedly have two versions, aiming to replace the currently available AirPods 2 and 3. The lower-positioned AirPods 4, replacing the AirPods 2, will not support wireless charging or active noise cancellation; the higher-positioned AirPods 4, replacing the AirPods 3, will support wireless charging and semi-in-ear active noise cancellation.

Combining reports from various media outlets, the main selling point of the iPhone 16 series, the highlight of this event, is AppleIntelligence. However, there is no clear progress regarding this feature in China.
