iPhone 16 Launches: Can Apple Reclaim the Top Spot? China's Smartphone Market Shakeup in Motion
The iPhone 16 series officially launched today, coinciding with the release of the Huawei MateXT. This simultaneous debut is set to spark a new round of reshuffling in China's smartphone market. Last week, Apple's market share in China dipped below 10%, marking a three-year low and garnering significant industry attention.
According to "Wisdom Chip Insider," the latest figures for last week (Week 37) showcase these market share rankings:
- Champion: Huawei (21.18%), with Huawei brand at 18.08% and Huawei Smart Selection at 3.10%;
- Runner-up: vivo (18.58%), with vivo brand at 14.22% and iQOO at 4.37%;
- Third Place: OPPO (16.00%), with OPPO brand at 13.24%, OnePlus at 1.33%, and realme at 1.42%;
- Fourth: Honor (15.52%);
- Fifth: Xiaomi (15.33%);
- Sixth: Apple (9.34%).
It's noteworthy that these rankings exclude Huawei Smart Selection and realme. Following traditional ranking methodologies, vivo, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, OPPO, and Apple would be the order.
"Wisdom Chip Insider" highlights that Huawei has held the top spot for two consecutive weeks, a rarity this year. Apple's decline is expected, but the drop below 10% is surprising. They also believe vivo might be the most stable brand in China, potentially reclaiming the top market share spot this year.
In contrast, OPPO's performance appears less impressive, particularly for its sub-brands. OnePlus's market share even lags behind realme. If realme is excluded from OPPO, OPPO's domestic ranking would fall to fifth, even behind Xiaomi.
With the launch of the iPhone 16 series and Huawei MateXT, this week's market landscape is poised for dramatic changes. The iPhone 16 series' strong sales could propel Apple back to the top spot. Meanwhile, Xiaomi is expected to release a new model next week, potentially capitalizing on the opportunity to climb back into the top three.
The ultimate outcome of this market competition remains to be seen, but it is certain that the release of new models will intensify the competition within China's smartphone market. Consumers stand to benefit from more high-quality products and more favorable prices.
