Huawei's pure-blood HarmonyOS NEXT system officially opened its public beta yesterday at 10:08 AM. The first batch of devices included the Huawei Mate60 series, MateX5 series smartphones, and the Huawei MatePad Pro 13.2-inch series tablets. IT Home noticed that the Huawei Mate60, Mate60 Pro, MateX5, and MatePad Pro 13.2-inch 2023 models had passed the OpenHarmony compatibility test yesterday. The test results showed that the operating system version number of these devices is OpenHarmony 5.0.0 Release.
OpenHarmony compatibility testing primarily verifies that partner devices and business applications meet the technical requirements defined by the OpenHarmony open-source compatibility standards. This ensures that devices and business applications running on OpenHarmony operate stably and normally, offering unified interfaces and user experiences.
IT Home previously reported that the OpenHarmony 5.0.0 Release version was released in September this year. It added support for ArkUI's open custom node rendering capabilities, allowing end-users to create app clones. Key upgrades include:
- Application Framework: Added more lifecycle management capabilities and provided sub-process related capabilities.
- ArkUI: Further opened up the rendering ability of custom nodes.
- Application Package Management: Improved application packaging efficiency and enriched the user's application operation scenarios, such as creating app clones and desktop shortcuts.
- Distributed Data Management Capabilities: Further enhanced, ensuring security while guaranteeing reasonable data sharing.
- File Management: Further enhanced the Picker's capabilities, ensuring appropriate control of permissions and use of file resources.
- Media: Further strengthened audio and video playback and recording capabilities. Added support for multiple audio, video, and image coding formats, and supports more detailed control over playback operations.
It is worth noting that the certification information also shows that the four Huawei Mate60 devices passed OpenHarmony compatibility testing in June with the operating system version OpenHarmony 4.1 Release. The launch of the HarmonyOS NEXT public beta marks a significant step in Huawei's development of the HarmonyOS system. It will bring users a more stable, richer, and more efficient experience in the future.
