IT Home, October 10th: The Shenzhen Park Development Agency of the Hetao Shenzhen-Hong Kong Science and Technology Innovation Cooperation Zone announced that Apple's application research lab in the Shenzhen Park officially commenced operation this afternoon. The lab will focus on reliability, quality, and materials analysis testing for products such as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro, with the aim of enhancing product quality and safety.

It is understood that this lab is Apple's most extensive lab outside of the US. It is expected to receive an investment of over 1 billion yuan and plans to develop a research and development team of over 1,000 high-end Chinese and foreign talents. Notably, Apple has emphasized that this investment will continue to grow.

In recent years, Apple's R&D team in China has continued to expand. In the past five years, the size of Apple's R&D team in China has doubled. The company currently has R&D centers in Beijing, Shanghai, Suzhou, and Shenzhen. Apple states that over the past 30 years, it has created over 5 million jobs in China through direct employment, its supply chain, and the iOS App economy.

According to Apple's headquarters plan, this lab will cover Apple's Greater China business and include the Asia-Pacific R&D business originally planned for Vietnam. This means that Shenzhen's core position in Apple's smart manufacturing and supply chain will be further solidified.

The first phase of the project covers a total construction area of 20,000 square meters and will primarily be used for hardware development, smart manufacturing, and joint R&D with partners in the supply chain for Apple's key core products.

Apple's R&D investment and talent cultivation in China not only reflect its commitment to the Chinese market but also demonstrate the importance of China in the global technological innovation landscape. With Apple's continued increase in R&D investment in China, it is expected to further drive technological innovation in China and inject new momentum into China's economic development.
