Leaker @MajinBu recently revealed that Apple will be using a new type of battery adhesive for all four models in its upcoming iPhone 17 series next year. This technology is currently only available on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus, while the higher-end iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max still use traditional tensile release adhesive.

This new adhesive makes it easier for users to disassemble and repair their phones themselves. Users simply need to apply a 9V low-voltage current to the new adhesive in the correct way, which will easily separate the battery from the motherboard frame. iFixit's disassembly results show that using this method for removing the battery on the iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus is faster and safer compared to the previous tensile release adhesive.

Previously, the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max did not adopt this solution and continued to use traditional tensile release adhesive, making it more difficult for users to perform self-repair. This adhesive requires specialized tools for removal, which is complicated and can easily damage the phone.
