According to the latest data from market research firm Counterpoint Research, global smartphone shipments increased by 7% year-on-year in the first half of 2024. ODM (Original Design Manufacturer) / IDH (Independent Design House) shipments also grew by 6% year-on-year in the same period. Counterpoint predicts that ODM/IDH will maintain a share of around 41% in the global smartphone market in 2024.

Senior Research Analyst Ivan Lam stated that Longcheer maintained its strong momentum, with shipments growing by 50% year-on-year in the first half. This significant growth was driven by robust shipments from Chinese brands, particularly Xiaomi, Huawei, Motorola, and Samsung.

IT Home learned that among the top six ODM/IDH companies, TINNO Mobile and CHINO-E also saw growth. TINNO Mobile's growth was primarily driven by Lenovo and Transsion Holdings, while CHINO-E's growth was fueled by Huawei and Honor.

It is noteworthy that Huajin and Wingtech experienced a decline in smartphone shipments in the first half. Despite this, Longcheer, Huajin, and Wingtech together accounted for three-quarters of total ODM shipments in the first half.

ODM/IDH play an increasingly important role in the smartphone market, providing design, manufacturing, and supply chain management services to brand vendors, enabling them to launch new products faster and more effectively. As competition intensifies in the smartphone market, ODM/IDH will continue to play a crucial role in driving market growth.

Specifically, Longcheer's growth is attributed to its close collaboration with Chinese brand clients. Longcheer provides customized design and manufacturing services to brands like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Motorola, helping them rapidly launch new products that meet market demands. CHINO-E's growth is fueled by its partnerships with Huawei and Honor. CHINO-E provides these brands with high-end smartphone products, helping them gain a foothold in the premium market.

Although Huajin and Wingtech experienced a decline in smartphone shipments in the first half, they remain leading ODM/IDH companies globally. Huajin and Wingtech possess strong technical capabilities and extensive experience, enabling them to provide comprehensive design, manufacturing, and supply chain management services to brand vendors.
