Redmi General Manager Wang Teng announced that the Redmi K80 series will be the first to feature the new Pengpai OS2, set to launch on October 29th. Xiaomi Group President Lu Weibing further detailed the three technological breakthroughs of Pengpai OS2: HyperCore, HyperConnect, and HyperAl, which promise to deliver a revolutionary user experience in basic functionality, cross-device connectivity, and AI, respectively.
To develop Pengpai OS2, Xiaomi assembled a dedicated team of over 3000 engineers under Lu Weibing's personal leadership. They integrated hardware, software, testing, marketing, and user feedback systems, rebuilding a high-pressure testing model and tackling over 25,000 scenarios one by one. Ultimately, Xiaomi developed the Pengpai system kernel, Xiaomi HyperCore, encompassing 305 specialized areas and boasting over 200 patents. This powerful core delivers silky smooth app launches and interface scrolling, alongside industry-leading game performance. Lu Weibing confidently asserted that users will immediately notice the significant leap in experience and welcomes Mi fans to rigorously test and monitor the system's capabilities.
The Redmi K80 series has already received network access permits. It comprises two models: the K80 and the K80 Pro, with model numbers 24122RKC7C and 24117RK2CC, respectively. The standard Redmi K80 is expected to feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform, while the K80 Pro will be powered by the even more powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy. Notably, both models will come standard with the latest generation Huaxing 2K straight screen, a rare feature in this price range.
Qualcomm's data reveals that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy utilizes two "super cores" clocked at 4.32GHz and six "performance cores" at 3.52GHz, effectively increasing the overall L2 cache capacity to 24MB. Moreover, it incorporates the Adreno 830 GPU, boasting 44% peak performance improvement, 25% better efficiency, and a 1100MHz frequency, along with a 12M dedicated cache and enhanced Hexagon NPU, translating to a 45% performance boost.
Wang Teng confidently stated that the K80 series will be a "killer" product, surpassing many competitor offerings released earlier. He encourages users planning to upgrade their phones at the end of the year to wait for the K80's arrival.
