Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Malaysia's national power company, has seen its losses from electricity theft steadily rising, exceeding 440 million Malaysian ringgit (approximately US$101 million) since 2020. So far this year, TNB has lost a staggering 103 million ringgit due to electricity theft. According to Datuk Seri Abd Jalil Hassan, the Director of Bukit Aman's Criminal Investigation Department, illegal Bitcoin mining is the driving force behind the majority of these electricity theft cases.
