Saying Goodbye to "Oreo," OPPO Find X8 Pro Redefines the Aesthetics of Imaging Phones with "Thin and Crispy"
The "Oreo"-style camera design has been around in the smartphone market for over a decade, and it has become increasingly popular in the past two years. The reason is that the camera modules are getting bigger, and smartphone manufacturers, out of aesthetic considerations, have to use this design, which is the most balanced option among all the possibilities. The circular lens matrix design seems to have dissatisfied many, but it's not that people have a prejudice against the circular shape, it's simply that they don't like the excessively protruding lens area.
The newly released OPPO Find X8 Pro, which was launched this week, once again uses a circular lens area, marking the third generation of OPPO's phones to do so. However, the device didn't feel like a repetitive design because OPPO has significantly reduced the protrusion, transforming the "Oreo" into a "thin and crispy wafer." The reduced thickness of the lens area dramatically improves the look and feel of the Find X8 Pro. Combined with the step-like design, even when viewed from the side, there is no obvious protrusion. These subtle changes allow the Find X8 Pro to effortlessly master aesthetics.
The changes to the lens not only impact the design but also significantly affect daily use. Firstly, when placed flat horizontally, the Find X8 Pro is significantly more stable, without the "seesaw" feeling. Furthermore, the overall weight of the phone has been significantly reduced, with an official weight of 215 grams, which is 6 grams lighter than its predecessor.
The key to minimizing the protrusion of the lens area lies in OPPO's development of a new U-shaped periscope telephoto structure. This structure aligns the sensor and light inlet on the same level, allowing light to reach the sensor after three reflections. The unique internal structure extends the optical path to meet the physical space required for zooming, but crucially, it significantly reduces the thickness of the module.
OPPO has consistently innovated in imaging. The Reno 10x Zoom Edition met the demand for smartphone zooming through periscope telephoto lenses. The Find X's dual-track periscope structure combined art and technology. Subsequently, the Find X flagship series has continued to experiment with craftsmanship, striving to achieve a balance between design and functionality. Now, the Find X8 Pro has achieved a milestone, realizing the unprecedented thinness of imaging phones, completely mastering the aesthetics of imaging phones.
Through the Find X8 Pro, we also realize that imaging phones don't have to compromise on aesthetics. At least OPPO has given us a solution that provides us with everything we want.
