The Xiaomi 15 series launch event recently concluded, unveiling stunning new flagship phones. Meanwhile, the highly anticipated Redmi K80 series has also been making headlines. According to the digital blogger @DigitalChatStation, the Redmi K80 series is confirmed to launch in November, meaning we're about to see this new device soon, with more product details to be revealed.
Two Xiaomi phones, model numbers 24122RKC7C and 24127RK2CC, have recently received 3C certification. The certification information indicates that they both support up to 120W fast charging, but the specific product series remains unclear. Another leak directly identifies these two devices as the Redmi K80 series and reveals further details. The leak claims that the entire Redmi K80 line has passed network regulations, and the Redmi K80 Pro will continue to excel in display and performance, while further enhancing imaging and peripheral experiences.
In addition to 120W fast charging, the leak also suggests that the Redmi K80 series will feature 90W flash charging and offer two charger options: 90W and 120W. Previously, a Xiaomi phone with the model number 24117RK2CC also received 3C certification, supporting up to 90W fast charging, and is speculated to be the Redmi K80, aligning with the latest rumors.
Based on previous leaks, the Redmi K80 series is expected to include three models: K80, K80 Pro, and K80E (the existence of the K80E is uncertain). The entire series will feature a 2K eye-care straight screen, with the panel material upgraded from C8 to C9, paired with a metal frame and glass body, resulting in a more premium feel. Additionally, the Redmi K80 series will reintroduce wireless charging. The K80 standard version is expected to support 30W wireless flash charging, while the K80 Pro will support 50W wireless flash charging.
The Redmi K80 series will also incorporate a 6000mAh next-generation silicon-carbon negative electrode battery, significantly enhancing battery energy density, allowing for a larger battery capacity within the same weight. This means the battery capacity improvement is expected to not impact the weight of the phone, and combined with the return of wireless charging, the overall battery life is expected to be upgraded once again.
In terms of core performance, the Redmi K80 could be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, while the higher-end Pro version is expected to feature the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy employs a new Oryon CPU, clocked at 4.32GHz, offering a 40% improvement in single-core performance, a 42% improvement in multi-core performance, and a 40% reduction in power consumption. While the performance has been enhanced, the Redmi K80 series, powered by this chip, might experience a price increase.
Xiaomi Group President Wang Teng explained the reasons behind the recent price increases for flagship phones: firstly, the flagship processor upgrade to the latest 3nm process leads to a significant increase in manufacturing costs; secondly, the memory prices have been climbing for a year and have now reached a peak, leading to larger price increases for high-memory capacity versions. However, Wang Teng also stated that the Redmi K80 series will continue to maintain reasonable pricing and promised not to disappoint users.
Overall, the Redmi K80 series is about to launch, equipped with 120W fast charging and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, bringing performance upgrades and, potentially, pleasant price surprises. It's definitely worth looking forward to.
