Samsung's AREmoji Renamed to GalaxyAvatar, OneUI7 Update Brings New AR Experience
Tech media outlet, sammyguru, recently reported that Samsung has confirmed the renaming of AREmoji to GalaxyAvatar in the OneUI7 update. This update will revamp the Augmented Reality (AR) experience with the help of AI features. This move signifies Samsung's continued advancements in the field of augmented reality, offering users richer AR functionality.
Introducing GalaxyAvatar
Samsung unveiled the GalaxyAvatar feature at its Developer Conference (SDC2024) in early October 2024. Users can find it in the advanced settings menu within OneUI7. Early versions showcased AI and AR-powered features, allowing users to create avatar photos, videos, and stickers, and design new outfits for their avatars.
Name Change
Samsung has informed users that GalaxyAvatar is an upgrade of AREmoji. When Galaxy S24 Ultra users open AREmoji in the native camera app, a banner will announce the renaming to GalaxyAvatar in OneUI7. Notably, Samsung released this notification before the OneUI7 update launch, while the stable version is expected in January 2025.
Adjustments to AR Tools
Samsung stated in the notification that certain AREmoji tools will be removed. In OneUI7, tools like ARDoodle, QuickMeasure, and DecoPic will no longer be part of GalaxyAvatar and will be launched as independent applications.
The launch of GalaxyAvatar signifies Samsung's continued commitment to augmented reality, providing users with more advanced and enriched AR experiences. The OneUI7 update will introduce a new era of AR experiences for Samsung phone users, further enhancing the functionality and entertainment value of their devices.
