Tech media outlet AndroidHeadline recently reported that Samsung is planning to introduce a new feature called CompactLiveAppActivities in OneUI 7, similar to Apple's LiveActivities. This feature will display app activity at the bottom of the lock screen.
Unlike traditional apps, CompactLiveAppActivities can run continuously in the background while maintaining interactive functionality. This means users can view and control apps in real-time on the lock screen without having to open the application. For example, users can continue playing music while the screen is locked and control music playback directly on the lock screen.
Currently, CompactLiveAppActivities introduced in Samsung OneUI 7 are located between the phone and camera shortcuts. Leaked images demonstrate the CompactLiveAppActivities feature for three apps:
- Music Widget: Features a thumbnail on the left side, along with pause/play and next track buttons, allowing users to control music playback on the lock screen.
- Recorder Widget: Provides a recording timer and stop button, allowing users to monitor recording status in real-time without opening the app.
- Clock Widget: Displays an active timer, total time, and estimated arrival time, with pause/resume buttons for easy viewing and control of the timer.
