Reported by NetEase Technology on May 12thRecently, Intel released the "2022-2023 Corporate Social Responsibility Report", while Intel CEO Pat Kissinger released an open letter.

Kissinger stated in an open letter that the significance of technology for humanity has been fully verified. In 2020, Intel promised to expand its digital readiness, with a plan to cover 30 million people in 30000 institutions in 30 countries.

He also promised in an open letter to strengthen the importance of responsible AI. Kissinger pointed out that Intel's responsible AI strategy aims to enable Intel to leverage its position in the AI value chain, promote profound industry development, and strive for larger scale investment on a larger scale. As part of our responsible AI work, we have announced the development of the FakeCatcher detection tool, which can detect forged videos with an accuracy rate of up to 96%.

The following is the full text of the open letter:

In the past few years, the significance of technology to humanity has been fully verified. In a world where the level of digitalization is constantly increasing globally, the development of semiconductor based technology continues to inject vigorous momentum.

For Intel, 2022 is a challenging year. On the one hand, the business market we are in is still severe, and at the same time, the company is actively implementing a transformation strategy that has been laid out for many years. In order to address these challenges, Intel still adheres to the highest level of ethical standards, fully utilizing the resources of the enterprise and the intelligence of its employees to solve the world's most daunting challenges. Our investment in the environment, society, and corporate governance is key to our success.

Recently, the death of Intel co-founder Gordon Moore made me realize this. At a time when most businesses were not as environmentally conscious as they are today, Moore's heartfelt love for philanthropy has established Intel's commitment to environmental sustainability. The spiritual wealth left by Moore still inspires us to continue moving forward, which is also an important reason why corporate responsibility and sustainable development are deeply rooted in Intel's DNA.

In the past year, Intel has advocated for sustainability throughout the industry and achieved remarkable results in multiple areas:

Promote the development of the value chain towards sustainable computingAchieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions is one of the most complex challenges facing the technology industry. In 2022, Intel is committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions in our business and the entire value chain. We promise to achieve 100% utilization of renewable electricity in Intel's global business by 2030, adhere to the full and effective utilization of water resources, and zero landfill of waste. We continue to develop a course of action, continue to promote emission reduction work, and commit to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions in global operations by 2040.

We have also actively cooperated with the industry and academia to identify, develop and pilot alternative green chemistry and emission reduction solutions, many of which are still in the gestation stage. For example, Intel is currently working with industry organizations such as the International Semiconductor Industry Association (SEMI) and the Semiconductor Research Alliance to create the "Sustainable Semiconductor Manufacturing" program, aiming to develop safer alternative products for various chemicals used in semiconductor manufacturing. In addition, we continuously improve energy efficiency and reduce the overall carbon footprint of Intel products and platforms, ultimately helping customers achieve sustainable development goals.

Investing in renewable electricityWe collaborate with local utility suppliers to develop a new contract mechanism to coordinate the development and construction of renewable power projects near our numerous parks worldwide. In addition, the number of alternative and renewable power installations in Intel campuses has grown exponentially over the past decade - we currently have over 110 alternative and renewable power installations in Intel campuses. I am proud to inform everyone that by the end of 2022, our global renewable electricity usage rate has reached 93%, higher than the 80% in 2021. We are focused on finding reliable opportunities for large-scale development and committed to using 100% renewable electricity in our global business by 2030.

Introducing Intel's Most Sustainable Data Center Processor in HistoryThe new generation of Intel products aims to provide higher performance with less energy. Fourth generation Intel xeon Scalable processors have built-in accelerators to help improve energy efficiency and performance. Compared to increasing the number of CPU cores, built-in accelerators can more efficiently improve workload performance, creating competitive advantages for customers in data center performance, energy efficiency, security, artificial intelligence, cloud, network, edge, and new features of globally leading supercomputers. We focus on improving operational utilization through more energy-efficient designs, artificial intelligence telemetry technology (AItelemetry), and low-carbon platforms.

We are committed to building on our current success and continuously deepening our cooperation achievements. The entire industry must work together to promote technology for the better - through technological innovation and the professionalism and enthusiasm of Intel employees, we ensure that our cooperation with other enterprises and organizations can create a more responsible, inclusive, and sustainable world. For example, in the past year, we have also achieved the following results:

Diversified supplier procurement expenditure reaching $2 billionWe have achieved Intel's first RISE goal, 8 years ahead of schedule - with an annual diversified supplier procurement expenditure of $2.2 billion. In 2021, our procurement expenditure for diversified suppliers was $1.4 billion, which is 10 times the annual procurement amount when we launched the supplier diversification plan in 2014.

Expand Digital Readiness ProgramIn 2020, Intel has promised to expand its digital readiness, which will cover 30 million people in 30000 institutions in 30 countries. At present, we have expanded the "Intel Digital Readiness Program "(Intel The scale of DigitalReadiness Programs has partnered with governments in 27 countries to empower 23000 educational institutions and train over 4 million people.

Strengthen commitment to responsible AIThis year, we shared the details of Intel's responsible AI strategy, which aims to enable Intel to leverage its position in the AI value chain, drive profound industry development, and strive for larger scale investment on a larger scale. As part of our responsible AI work, we have announced the development of the FakeCatcher detection tool, which can detect forged videos with an accuracy rate of up to 96%. Intel's deep forgery detection platform is the world's first real-time deep forgery detector, capable of returning detection results within milliseconds.

The process of global interconnection is unstoppable, and we are all involved without exception. As we continue to change the human process, we must also persist in creating technologies that change the world, benefiting everyone on Earth. Intel has always been fully committed and unwavering in implementing our strategy, continuously unleashing development momentum through large-scale production and team collaboration, and providing leading products on an open and secure platform. Intel and its employees will create disruptive technologies that change lifestyles, driving the development of businesses and society forward.
