IT Home reported on June 5th that a few months ago, Microsoft launched Bing Chat, an artificial intelligence based chatbot service that could only be used through Microsoft's own Edge browser. IT Home reported on June 5th that a few months ago, Microsoft launched Bing Chat, an artificial intelligence based chatbot service that could only be used through Microsoft's own Edge browser. A few days ago, Mikhail Parakhin, the head of Microsoft's advertising and network services department, stated that starting from June, the company will try to make Bing Chat support third-party browsers. Now, this feature has begun to be available to some users.

This weekend, there is a post on Bing's Reddit page showing screenshots of Bing chatting running on Apple's Safari and Google's Chrome browser. Today, foreign media Neowin asked Parakhin about this post on Twitter and confirmed the news, stating that "we are conducting experiments and will gradually launch it." As of now, he did not disclose which third-party browsers will receive support from Bing Chat.

Enabling Bing Chat to support other browsers should bring Microsoft a larger user base. According to StatCounter's latest data, Edge is currently the third most popular browser, with a market share of 9.91%. Google Chrome remains far ahead, ranking first with a market share of 66.02%. Apple Safari ranks second with a market share of 12.79%.

Microsoft may continue to maintain a low number of users accessing Bing chat using Chrome and Safari browsers in order to test their performance before deciding whether to open this feature to a wider audience. IT Home also noticed that earlier this week Microsoft confirmed that it would increase the daily chat round limit from 200 to 300, and the round limit for each session from 20 to 30. Microsoft has also expanded the use of Bing Image Creator in Bing Chat from creative mode to precise and balanced mode. In addition, Bing celebrated its 14th birthday this weekend and officially launched it on June 3, 2009.
