Exposed that Apple will launch iPhone 17 development in India for the first time without relying on China

On November 2nd, Guo Mingyi, a well-known analyst at Tianfeng International Securities, released a report predicting that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 Standard Edition in the second half of 2025. He stated that the introduction of new products (NPI) will begin in India in the second half of next year, which will be the first time Apple has developed a new iPhone on a production line outside of China.

Guo Minghui further pointed out that by 2023, approximately 12% to 14% of the world's iPhones will be produced in India. In India, 75% to 80% of iPhone production capacity is owned by Foxconn's parent company, Hon Hai. If everything goes smoothly, the proportion of iPhones produced in India in 2024 will increase to 20% to 25%.

It is worth noting that Tata Group of India has acquired Weichuang's production line in India to become an iPhone assembler. This measure can strengthen Apple's partnership with India and facilitate future sales of iPhones and other products in the Indian market, which is seen as a key factor for Apple's growth in the next decade.

With the increase in iPhone production capacity in India, Hon Hai's production scale in Zhengzhou and Taiyuan, China is expected to decrease by 35% to 45% and 75% to 85% respectively by 2024. Guo Mingming pointed out that the rapid increase in the proportion of iPhone production and the improvement in production line automation by Li Xun are also the main reasons for Hon Hai's production reduction.

For Apple, these measures mean that the company can further expand into India, a rapidly growing market, while also reducing production costs by producing iPhones in India.
